Mother’s Day; Come On Men, Time to Man Up

Alright men, it is that time of year again. Mother’s Day is just around the corner. Chances are that unless you have grown children who are in charge of taking care of mother’s day themselves, then it is your time to shine! Hallmark and commercials would love you to believe it is the seven year old boy and his five year old sister who are delivering mommy pancakes in bed, but we know who is supervising the whole fiasco, it is you! Your wives work so hard to be mothers so make sure that you take an active part in honoring them on this holiday as well.

Here are five practical tips to get you through this mother’s day:

  1. Plan ahead. Reservations for brunch are very popular.
  2. Involve your children in picking out Mother’s day gifts. A great way to teach older children is to give a specific amount and let them learn how to purchase by themselves.
  3. Buy flowers early. Anytime there is a holiday (valentines, Easter, mother’s day) they get picked over fast.
  4. Teach the kids that not all gifts require money. Encourage the kids to help clean the house or bring breakfast in bed.
  5. This is a great opportunity to spend father-son or father-daughter time. Make cards or other crafts!
