Marriage is an amazing union that most of us did not think would take so much work! Not only the marriage part but family, work, and health all play a part in our lives. God spoke to me about fire seasons recently and I wanted to share some of the key points that He shared with me. Here are a few tips if you are going through a “fire” season.
Let’s start with a question some of you may have. What is a fire season?
A fire season is a season that can be very overwhelming. It is a season where you are on your knees praying for strength and endurance more than usual. It is a season where you are fighting harder then you’ve ever had to fight. This fight might be for your marriage, your health, your kids or any aspect of your life.
Who better to talk about going through the fire but Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego who literally went THROUGH the fire.
Tip#1: Always go WITH God.
Shadrach, Meschach, and Abednego refused to bow to King Nebuchadnezzar and refused to worship anything or anyone other than the one true God. They went through the fire after refusing to bow to the king, but they went WITH God. They had confidence that God would never leave them. They had unshakable faith. The king even turned up the temperature of the furnace after hearing that they would still not bow!
If you go WITH God you can guarantee that the fire will not consume you, no matter how hot it gets, so even if the temperature gets hotter stand firm. Do not let the situation, anxiety, worries, stress, or LIFE, in general, dictate your confidence in God. Be unshakable.
16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied to him, “King Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. 17 If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. 18 But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.”
Daniel 3: 16-18
Tip#2: You will be refined not consumed
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego went through the fire and not even a hair was singed. We need to be more like these young fearless men! We need to walk in confidence that the God we serve and love is going to carry us! The king was shocked, and not only did the king worship God because of it but he also promoted Shadrach, Meschach, and Abednego (Daniel 3:25-29)!
Remember other people are watching how you go through your fires and your testimony might just even bring them to God. Also, remember when you come out of the fire, you won’t even smell like the fire, you will look, and smell like a new person who has been refined, not consumed.
Tip#3: You will be used for more than you could have ever imagined
When you trust in God during a fire season, your faith grows watching God move in the midst of your struggle. When God can trust that a fire season will not shake you then he will bless you abundantly more and trust you with more because you have shown him that a season of difficulty is not going to overtake you. There is a major difference in saying you believe that God can carry you through the fire, and actually going through the fire and placing total reliance on God for provision.
Whether it is your marriage or any struggle in your life take this season you are in and hold tightly to Gods hand, He won’t let you go, He is with you, He goes before you.
